from Atta
Ingredients -
- 2 cups – Roop Laxmi Atta
- 5 tsps – Ghee
- ¼ tsp – Salt
- 1 cup – Sugar
- 2 tsps – Sesame (Til)
- ½ tsp – Cardamom Powder (Elaichi)
- 1 cup – Water
- Oil for deep frying
Cooking Directions -
-
In a bowl, add the Atta, salt, ghee, sesame, and cardamom powder and mix well.
-
Put water and sugar in a bowl and stir till the sugar melts. After that pour this over the flour mixture.
-
Slowly, keep mixing to form slightly firm yet smooth dough. Knead for a good 6-8 minutes. Cover it and set aside for at least 10 to 15 minutes.
-
Next step is to roll and cut the dough. In the meantime, preheat the oil for deep frying.
-
Roll out the Shakkar Para dough into 1/4-inch-thick balls or desired thickness. The thicker the Shakkar Para, the longer it will take to fry it.
-
Use a sharp knife or a pizza cutter to cut into 1/2" width long horizontal strips, cut into diamond shapes.
-
Remove each cut piece and place on a plate so that you can drop them easily into the hot oil while deep frying.
-
Heat oil for deep frying on a medium heat.
-
Drop the Shakkar Para into the hot oil and deep fry till the on low to medium heat until they turn golden brown in color, turning it around constantly while it is deep frying so it gets fried evenly.
-
Remove the finished Shakkar Para with the help of a slotted ladle and place on an absorbent paper. Fry the remaining the similar way.
-
Once both are cooled completely, store in an airtight container.
-
They have a shelf life of at least 10 days to 15 days.
-
Serve Shakkar Para as a tea time snack.
